I think BP said, with regard to badgework, that PLs should be
giving their Patrol Members the Lead and not the Push, or something
I seem to have trouble with applying something like that.. it's not
always easy for me. I don't see a problem with giving a Scout a
push on Tenderfoot requirements (when I was helping out with a troop
this summer that had them, as opposed to Scouts Canada.) What I have
been doing with my Venturers is a harder case.
There are about 5 of them who almost have their Chief Scout's Award
(well, varying degrees of almost). It's the highest award you can
get as a Scout in Scouts Canada.. and it seems that they don't
want to leave the troop and join venturers until they finish it..
but it looks as if they wouldn't finish it themselves.. so, since
I want more dedicated Venturers, I've been helping them with the
I could understand why someone would give the push, but it would
probably be better (and more meaningful) if the Scout does it
by himself, for himself..
