One other bear-bag idea or trick. . . using 2 nylon ropes. .
Purchase a small pulley from a hardware store and tie it to the
end of one rope. The small pulley makes a perfect weight to
use to throw the end of the first rope over a high branch.
Once the pulley is over the branch, place the end of the second
rope, tied to the bear bag thru the pulley and pull the pulley
to a fairly high point. Then pull the bear bag up, on the rope
going thru the pulley!! It makes the heavy bags go up much easier.
And with 2 ropes, you can better control the placement of the bag,
making sure it is far enough away from branches and other trees.
In some areas you can still have problems with those smaller
badits known as racoons!
