A one-time back yard campout in a location with sufficient space might be
good for a shake-down campout before a real campout with new Scouts, but on
the whole it seems like the best way I know to cause the Scouts to lose
interest and drop-out. They are there mostly because they think its fun
and because they like recognition. Take the Outing out of Scouting and
all you have left is "Sc", which most boys take to mean Senseless crap.
