Interresting discussion the other day at the scout shack. Even our DE
didn't know the answer, so he's pursuing with the council:
What liability does the Scoutmaster (or his designee) incur by signing
off advancement. Specifically first-aid (tenderfoot through 1st class,
and merit badges). Is the scoutmaster liable if a scout performs
first-aid (correctly or incorrectly) which results in some problem and
hence a law suit. I believe the scout is covered under a good-samaratin
clause, but can the scoutmaster or whomever signed the advancement record
be held liable?
p.s. Does this affect any other areas?: Cooking merit badge, if the scout
gives someone food poisoning?
