Yes it is true, we have now allowed sponsorship of our Scout and Cub Scout
Proficiency/Activity (Merit) Badges. Ithink it is meant just as a way as
raising more funds for the National Organisation. I think that it is a
great idea as long as we don't get too commercialised and only think about
the monetry side of Scouting. If sponsorship promotes and increases the
standards of the badge requirements it can only be a good thing surely.
One point to make, no advertising authority is allowed to use the Scout
Uniforms or insignias and badges in their commercials unless they have been
given the go ahead by Headquarters. I can only presume that this is not the
case in the States??
