Our Pack found itself with very little money at the start of the school
year and a new Cubmaster. He came up with a very good "petty funds" fund
raiser. Each month each scout from one den brought a home-baked item.
Then the Cubmaster auctioned each item. We have only one den for each
scouting level, but we raised anywhere from $70-$125 each month. After
each den had its turn at providing the baked goods, we had a 50-50
raffle. You could buy one chance to win half the raffle "pot" for $1.
The best part of this was that usually the adult/parent would turn around
and donate the winnings to the Pack, but the scouts really got excited
for both events - be sure to let only adults do the bidding on the baked
goods though. Not all scouts carry cash or have their parents'
permission. However, the scouts had a great time baiting their parent to
buy the baked good or the raffle chance!
