Like it ! Trouble is if I tried that the parents would say fine , you
keep the little brat. (Sigh!)
Seriously , parent support is a big problem. I used to visit the family
of every new boy who joined , and mug them on their home territory. It's
hard to refuse a guest in your home who has come to talk about all the
wonderful opportunities for your kid and his friends if only he can get a few
more adults to give the odd hour ... Well, you get the message.
Some people are frightened of the word Committee and think they are
joining the board of General Motors. Try " we need somebody to help
keep the paperwork on what awards the kids are getting " or whatever -
" sell " the job , then just slip in " and the Pack Committee meets
every month, and of course we'd like you participate ... "
