Her Majesty was here last week... I shoulda asked her. (Well, if I'd
had an audience, oh... nevermind.)
We haven't had a change in Monarch for a good long time. I suspect that
they would wait to award the awards until after a coronation and enough
time to get his/her signature on the new award blanks. That is, I suspect
the youth who won the awards would have to wait a few weeks if they
happened to time it to be just at the time of the reigning monarch's
death (or decension).
I now with our Chief Scout awards (signed by the Chief Scout, who is
our Governor General, the vice-regal in Canada), we won't use the "old"
forms unless the date of the award is before the change-over. And it
usually takes a while for the "new" ones to be in stock, but then they
can be back-dated to the date of the award, which is after the change.
Did that make any sense?
