I have heard that the OLD "REGION 7" canoe base in Northern
Wisconsin was being run by local councils up there. Is that true?
That was an extremely nice trip, way back when. And I would
be interested in doing it with my Post.
We are currently 874 in the infamous Philmont raffle. So
something as Plan B is definitely in order.
We did Sea Base this year. No it is NOT Philmont...But it was
not meant to be. It was very enjoyable, the Coral Reef Program was
excellent. Sailing, Snorkeling, Sun and FUN. As our captain put it,
"This is the Club Med of Scouting".
One of my crew had been to Philmont twice as a scout and twice on trail
crew and My oldest son has been to Philmont, Sommers, and National
Jambo. Both of these young men seemed to feel this was a viable
alternative to busting your tail for two weeks in New Mexico. Both are
planning on applying for Sea Base Staff next summer.
We are also on the waiting list for Sea Base next summer (this much more
likely to move that the Philmont list) for both Coral Reef and
Anyway... Is Region-7 (or what even it is now called) still alive?
