Payphones - who needs them ?

Hmm ... the last Cub Camp I was on one of the fathers had just won a mobile
phone. The deal is free calls evenings and weekends, just pay a monthly fee
of the equivalent of about $27 . So the kids were asking to borrow the
mobile and calling home from their tents. Much more private, and it saves
walking down to the Camp Square. Is this the shape of things to come ?
I wonder how long it will be before Scouts start sending email home via a
digital communicator attached to their palmtop computer ? <g>
