Randy, you've hit one of my 21 camps. I was program director there in 1969.
I wonder if they extend the respect of not walking across the tail of the
turtle effigy by the flagpole?
Oconomowoc is a fairly small community. I don't remember the motels but
would suggest that you could stop almost anywhere between Milwaukee and the
Oconomowoc exit--it's less than an hour from Milwaukee. I know where were
some places near Wakesha (a short distance east of Oconomowoc).
Whoops, you will be coming from Madison. That's probably a good place to
stop for the night. I don't remember much between Madison and Oconomowoc
besides Interstate highway. BTW, as you approach the Oconomowoc exit, look
left to see the camp from the interestate.
Warning, speed limits are fairly strictly enforced between Madison and
Milwaukee (as well as some other places).
I think you will enjoy your visit to Silver Lake and I'm sure you will enjoy
