Hello from Wisconsin!
I was wondering if there was any IBM software available that has all of
the various forms that a den leader would use to run his den ( Individual cub
scout record, advancement forms,etc...). Any information on this matter
would be greatly appreciated.
In regards to the AC that seems to ensure her own son's top dog
Many careers involve qualification processes that involve signatures for
completion of knowledge requirements or practical factors where the
individual must complete a task. By handing her son awards that most people
spend long hours working on only cheapens the scouting program and makes her
son the target of many boys envy. If she thinks that she is fooling
everyone, chances are the only one that is being fooled is herself.
Inevitably, this will hurt her son in the future when he will be required to
work for a living and will only serve to make her look snobbish and
unapproachable. I don't think that she should be serving in the position
that she is if she is going to continue this type of action. The best way to
stop it is ensuring a check and balance system in the pack. The cubmaster is
the final authority on awards in the pack with the den leaders being the
quality control personnel. No award should be given out without first
ensuring that it has been earned (den leader) and then authorized
(cubmaster). This is definetly one subject that I am going to cover with the
parents of my wolf den in the next couple of weeks.
