Here is another idea for you. Have him sign up as a second year Webelo
and explain to him that he can stay on in the Den after his crossover as
a Den Chief. I know that there is a first class requirement for Den
Chiefs, but we routinely ignore it if we believe the Den Chief can be
brought up to first class within one year. I work with both the Pack and
Troop, so I make it a priority to see that my young Den Chiefs get the
advancement opportunity they need to reach that goal within the year.
Make sure that during his Webelo year he is getting to know troop members
and leaders so that the transition will be easy for him.
