The posting about NJ area councils cooperating on offering Wood Badge
raised a question in my mind, and rather than just ponder it, I decided
to ask the list. Here it is:
How often do the various councils out there offer WB, and what mix?
Longhorn Council (Fort Worth, Texas and ten surrounding rural counties -
25,000 or so scouts (Cub and Boy) and 10,000 or so scouters - offers a
course every spring and every fall. Generally, rather than 8 patrols of
8, the course is limited to 6 patrols of 7. A minimum of 32 are required
for a course, and if there are less than 36, we cut back to five patrols.
(leaving off Bear, even though they have the best verse). Oh! I should
specify that these are Boy Scout WB courses. The cub version is offered
once a year (I think - I know almost nothing about that course here).
To my knowledge, no course has failed to make the minimum for years.
We do not conduct the week-long course.
