My best bet for scout shops--Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN.
There is a Scout Shop in Har-Mar Mall (Rosedale, northern suburb of St. Paul)
which is open approximately 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. weekdays, til 6 on Saturday, closed
on Sunday. Operated by National. The Indianhead Council service center is
near downtown St. Paul (8:30-5:30 weekdays, til 8:30 on Thursday evening).
The Viking Council service center is on the western edge of Minneapolis open
about same hours as Indianhead, occasionally on Saturday mornings I think.
Three rather completely stocked, one VERY completely stocked, Scout Shops
within a circle of about 20 miles diameter. The council shops were Satelites
of the Har-Mar Shop. You could get most anything at any location within a
day or two. Excellent service for people in Twin Cities, out-state units had
to rely on mail service (level was highly variable).
BTW, if you wanted a council shoulder patch and it wasn't restricted (some
councils do not allow out of council sales) you could get it at Har-Mar shop.
You could turn in advancement sheets at any of the three when picking up
Last time I shopped there was four years ago. Since then I've been in the
boonies and had to make 40-60 mile trips to council office for supplies.
