I'm finally responding to Susan's comments which were responded to by
Mike. "Despite the shape of the patches, Totin' Chip and Firem'n Chit
are not to be worn on the flap."
I visited a scout council store last weekend and found Totin' Chip and
Firem'n Chit patches. While they looked like they fit the pocket flap,
closer examination showed them to exactly match the bottom line of the
pocket. A short time later a scout walked in wearing one. Above it was
a "Camp 1993" Strip about 3/4 inch high!
I didn't ask, but apparently his council, as does ours, issues strips that are
designed to be worn below the council camp patch. Some leaders in our council
have several of these below the right pocket. Interestingly, I've seldom seen
a council camp patch worn on a uniform, just one to many of the strips. I
won't call the patch police but I suspect it is not quite legal!!!
