RE>This quarter's Trival Trivia
Most everyone answered questions 1-6, so I'll contribute #7.
7. There was something rather significant that they left behind on
the Moon. It's still there, besides the hardware which was left
behind. What is it and who planted it there?
Besides the following list of items left on the moon, the Apollo 11
Astronauts left 'a silver of dacite (Volcanic glass-that came from near
Devil's lake in Oregon) in remembrance of their experience in Central Oregon
testing moon equipment on the lava beds at Mount Newberry, near Bend, Oregon.
Throughout the Apollo missions, 12 astronauts left behind more than just
their footprints. They also left behind their boots, as well as:
Six lunar vehicles, Three battery-powered moon rovers, Five science
laboratories, TV and Camera gear, Six american flags, a plague honoring 14
dead US and Soviet spacemen, a piece of the Wright brother's biplane, and two
golf balls hit by Alan B. Shepard Jr. (who was NOT on the Apollo 11, but on
Apollo 14 mission, and was the 5th man to walk on the moon in January 1971).
In Scouting . . .
