To the Scout who was concerned about showering:
I understand how you feel. When I grew up, showering at
school after PE class was the one part of the day I
really dreaded. The things that worried me are too
numerous and personal for a public forum.
You definitely have a decision to make. I would
recommend that one decision you should make right
away is that you WILL shower. A Scout is Clean is
something you really need to set an example about.
But how you shower is a personal decision that is
all yours. Many of the boys at camp will no doubt
be showering with swim trunks on. Their own feelings
about personal modesty will make them feel this way.
I don't think there is anything wrong with it, and
if you feel the same way, go for it.
On the other hand, getting used to showering at a
gym or health club can start right away. You can
employ that other point, A Scout is Brave, and just
go for it. Your example may help other younger boys
to be more comfortable with it. I agree with what
someone else said about going about it confidently.
If you decide to shower naked, try not to be self-
conscious about it.
Either way, it's your decision. Make it. Do what you
feel is right and most beneficial for your troop.
As a leader, you've been given many tools for dealing
with these problems.
