I'll be brief.
I wasn't aware of how specific/explicit the religious requirements in Cub
Scouting are. I don't remember this from my Cub days (72-74), but maybe I'm
just being forgetful about this after 20 years.
I consider myself to be Christian and am a member of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America but I am rather disturbed by such an overt
religious tone in the requirements. As I understood it, the BSA had defined
"God" to be as however the boy and his family perceived it.
I must wonder, and half facetiously, if the folks in Irving (the BSA
national headquarters) have gotten a little too much sun on their scalps and
too much of Texas preachers.
