Dear Fellow Scouters:
I am looking for a registered, adult (18+ years), BSA leader to
accompany me on a high adventure trip from Boston, MA to the Sommers
National High Adventure Base in Ely, Minnesota.
Our troop (Troop 42, Quincy, Massachusetts) has been planning this
trip since last October. We have one crew scheduled for a 50 mile
canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Minnesota. All
registrations and reservations for this trip have been approved, and
we have an approved National Tour Permit. We are driving from Boston
to Minnesota and are staying at State Parks along the way.
As luck would have it, the second adult I had for this trip has
just started a new job--one which will give him no vacation time till
next year. All the other adults in my unit are either committed to
other things, or are not physically fit for such an adventure.
Naturally, I do not want to cancel this event if I can help it. And
yes, I have contacted my council in hopes of finding another adult. I
just figure posting this might reach another adult in a nearby council
who would just love such an adventure.
And yes, time is short. We are scheduled to leave the Boston area
on Wednesday, August 10, and plan on returning by Thursday, August 25th,
1994. The cost would be $250.00, plus food costs for the trip out and
back. The first leg of the trip would be along Interstate 90 from
Boston to Buffalo, so if you are not directly from Boston, but along this
route, and are interested, then by all means inquire.
Interested persons should contact me directly. Obviously there is
more information available than is listed here. (I am trying to keep
this as brief as possible.) Thanks.
