Also, one kid may be in more then one activity. If there is more then one
kid in a family, and maybe only one parent, or even two, transportation can
be a problem. Some parents rotate and devote themselves to scouts one
year, a sport the next, and sometimes maybe a child is having trouble in
*school* and the parent takes some time off to help that one through that.
Last year we had two leaders (cub and brownie) commit to be a leader and
then couldn't follow through. I think the only thing worse then being an
uninvolved parent is saying you will do something and then not being able
to, when everybody else has already committed elsewhere because they think
scouts is covered. Kind of makes a crummy year for the kids.
