You'd be amazed. I've been called (to my face) a "paid babysitter" since
the parents paid the national registration more than once. People like that
will send their children anywhere with anyone just to get rid of them. I
know it's hard to believe, but I've even taken Scouts camping without ever
laying eyes on the parents. When they have no phone and are never home, but
the kid keeps showing up with the signed slip, what can you do? At least I
know they will be safe and loved with me. I can't speak for what happens at
home when the parents agree with Rhett Butler. I could NEVER send my child
camping with someone I didn't REALLY know well, and these people had never
even SPOKEN to me!
KEEP ON SCOUTING!
