Hi to all readers,
My name is Geoff Green and I would like to introduce myself to this group.
I am a Cub Leader at 1st Clayton Cub Pack and a Rover at 7th Oakleigh Rover
Crew. Both of these groups are based in Melbourne, Australia. I am a
computer science/information systems student at Monash University and I am
completing my final year here, after which I hope to go on to attempt an
My scouting history is rather large as I started in cubs about 15 years
ago. I partisipated in Cubs, Scouts, and Venturers in a medium sized
country town (Wodonga) before moving to Melbourne to continue my studies.
Once moving to Melbourne I became a Scout Leader, but the scout group
closed due to lack on numbers. I then went on to become a Cub Leader with
one of my close friends who had just moved from Wodonga to Melbourne for
I am interested in meeting people from all over the world and if anyone in
or planning to visit Melboure would like to get together socially or for
scouting reasons, then I would be happy to help orginise something.
The other reason for mailing this letter out is to ask for assistance for
a friend. My Crew Leader is planning to go to the Canadian Moot later
this year, where she will meet up with some friends and then travel to the
Grand Canyon and complete her ramblers badge (hiking). She is after
contacts, information, and the use of a 3 man hike tent. Information is
what she is after the most as she has very little in the way of
information about transport and accommodation in that area.
Below is a schedule of her travels in the Grand Canyon area.
Grand Canyon Schedule:-
1300 hrs: Arrive Phoenix.
Need to get to Flagstaff.
1300 hrs: Travel by bus from South Rim to North Rim.
Start hike from North Rim.
Information Needed -
Information on how to get to Flagstaff - buses, hire car, etc ???
Information on accomodation in Flagstaff - youth hostel, caravan
parks, camping sites, scout halls, etc???
Information on transport from Flagstaff to South Rim the next day??
Equipment Needed -
3 man hike tent. (Doesn't want to bring her own due to her going to
the moot first, then after the hike will be staying in America for
~2 years, she also wants to keep the gear she is taking to a minimum).
She will need it for only the length of the hike (I'm not sure how
long it will be ~4 days), and then she will return it.
Any help given would be greatly appreciated.
Hope to hear from you all soon.
