Bruce Johnson, I would have asked you this question directly, but I
though it would be a good question for the list.
My troop is going on a High Adventure trip to Kentuckey Lake (Land
Between the Lakes area of TN) where they will be spending a week on a
At tonight's meeting, the topic was BSA water safety. The question came
up regarding wearing of PFD (Personal Floatation Devices, formerly known
as "life jackets"). While on the boat, will the scouts be required to
wear PFD's at all times (as would be the case with a row boat, canoe,
etc), just have them aboard (1 per person), or something in between.
I'm sure that the BSA has regs on this for Sea Exploring (and other
similar activities), but I don't have the resources.
