A Scouter from south of the border recently posted a very good idea for
scouter training using M&M's in film canisters. In other forums, there have
also been discussion on using film canisters for storing food. A few years
ago, an article in the Leader magazine (Scouts Canada) talked about this idea.
The following month, a letter was received stating that this was an unsafe
practice. Apparently, the canisters are lined with a chemical preservative for
the film and while only a small quantity exists, it can be harmful to one's
health. Maybe someone out there can verify this for me, or I will attempt to
track down the article and response letter from the magazine.
