I work on the advancement committee for my district in the Great Salt
Lake Council. We have been told to have anyone who wants to earn his
Eagle without the Family Life
merit badge to have his paper work in to council by the first part of
August at the latest so that the Board of Review can be completed by
If the boy has not had his Eagle Board of Review by August 30, he will
have to earn the Family Life merit badge to qualify for Eagle. The
Family Life merit badge is MANDATORY starting SEPT 1. This is
especially important to a boy who may be turning 18 around this period
So to answer your question, since the boy in question will not be able
to have his Board of Review by August 30, he will ahve to earn the
Family Life merit badge, in order to earn the Eagle rank.
