Under the new "computerized registration system" the position
previously called "College Scouter Reserve" has been cut. This was
due to local Councils having no control over volunteers which are
registered in one local Council yet are living (and working with a
unit) in another local Council. Youth members (those under 18) can
still be registered as members of the Troop; adult members (those
under 21 and over 17) can still be registered as Assistant
Scoutmasters but MUST fill out an adult application and be approved
just like any other Assistant Scoutmaster.
You can still have Assistant Scoutmasters off at school...the BSA just
made the "position" legit.
Some Councils will STILL have folks registered as CSRs even under the
new registration format because they have not reregistered or because
they have not rechartered. Other Councils not using the new
registration format are sending applications to their Regional offices
only to have them returned to the Registrar to have the position
code changed..so there IS a possibility that someone you know may say
that they are "college scouter reserve" members but in actuality,
they are registered some place else.
