Here is the limited information I have on that situation.
The camp - as far as I can determine - is Camp Frank Rand (about 1/2 to 1 hour
from Santa Fe) the summer camp for the Great Southwest Council. I do not know i
f people were evacuated from the camp or what. Last week was Staff Week at
camp. This week is the first week of camp. JLT was last week and Brownsea
will be at the end of summer camp.
It appears that the fires are being brought under control. Most of the rest
of the fires in the state (all lightning sparked) have been contained and
have burned out or are burning out.
A large portion of the state is under a warning for forest fires (no fireworks
or open flames permitted) and more is being considered for the ban.
The Lincoln National Forest and many other parts of New Mexico have not had
a major fire through them in the past 3+ years, so the burn is overdue. What
firefighters are trying to do is contain it so that it does not damage private
If I find anything else out I'll post it. If anybody knows anything that is
in error with what I've said, I'll bow and let you correct me :)
