Dr. Steve (Myers) and I have been waiting for someone to release the
NOAC conference program and agenda out (does anyone have a copy to
share with us?) before we would plan out a Scouts-L NOAC "Roundtable"
similar to the one we did at the Jamboree last summer.
In the meantime, someone on Rec.Scouting with NOAC connections posted
a message that I exported over here about a "Internet Arrowmen"
meeting on the evening of the first night of NOAC. The message is
reposted here for your information.
While many of us will perhaps be in attendance at the Internet
Arrowmen meeting, we here on Scouts-L wanted to hold our own meeting
perhaps at a time and location away from the NOAC site, so that we can
spend more time with each other and not have to "squeeze in"
everything in a free hour or two. It's NOT that we don't think that
we're "better" than the other forum; rather, its just that we've
developed this list into more than passing Scouters and that some of
us are NOT in the Order of the Arrow and still would like to come and
meet these others that appear on their computer screens each day or
If anyone has the list of events to share with Steve Myers or myself,
please send it to us. If you've been thinking about attending the
meeting and you're NOT a OA member or even in the BSA, also drop Steve
a line and let him know, as the "keeper of the NOAC list" of your
interest in coming.
John, we've always had a "unwritten policy" here of not excluding anyone
from our discussions, and that extends to our face-to-face meetings as
well. During our Jamboree meeting, for instance, we had three
Scouters that are on Rec.Scouting and two others that use CompuServe.
While the National Order of the Arrow meeting is designed to bring
together Arrowmen from around the world, there's nothing that says
that our meeting, on the grounds or off-campus, cannot bring together
Scouters and others from all over.
Here's the extracted posting:
(I am forwarding this from Rec.Scouting for consideration by those going to
the National Order of the Arrow Meeting this summer. We've talked about
the possibility of us all meeting each other at the National OA meeting and
I believe Dr. Steve (Myers) was keeping a list of folks that were planning on
going (and posting it each month or so here)...while we don't conduct
business like those over in Rec.Scouting do, I thought that perhaps we *might*
consider meeting those from the "other sides" during the National Meeting.
The date is July 31st, after the opening show. This may or may not be an
ideal time...but we can talk about it, even pull Tim in on giving us some
other "open times" in which we could all meet. Hey! Who knows!)

I hereby propose that we have the first meeting of the Electronic
Lodge on July 31st, immediately following the opening show at NOAC '94.
Membership in the Electronic Lodge is automatic for any member of the
Order of the Arrow who has access to the Internet, Prodigy, or any of the
other computer networks.
If the rumors are correct, the opening show will be Sunday evening,
July 31st, in the Elliott Hall of Music. Just north-east of the Hall of
Music is Hovde Hall (these two buildings are connected by a pedestrian bridge)
North-east of Hove Hall is the Engineering Mall, a large greenspace with
a fountain resembling a three-story washing machine agitator. If the
weather is good, let's assemble on the north-east side of the fountain.
If the weather is foul, let's gather under the center stair in the lower
lobby of the Hall of Music.
