Chris Haggerty's note about the volume of traffic on the list and having
to delete a lot of items without reading them really emphasizes the
importance of using the proper subject line AND keeping the discussion ON
For instance, I routinely delete the RE: Introduction type items. They
usually contain something irrelevant to the list like "Welcome Jack" and
should have been sent to the individual. If they contain pertinent
information, then I miss it.
I don't want to discourage a general reply to the list, especially if it
is an answer to a question. I DO want to discourage general replies of
interest to only one person.
This is one of those topics that come up every so often. We do not need to
rehash it -- read the archives if you are interested.
