About 20 years ago when I worked in Girl Scouts I heard the following
Mrs. Jones went up to this nice big house. Out in front was a big,
beautiful, expensive car. She knocked on the door and a gentleman came to
the door. Mrs. Jones said, "Sir I wondered if I could use your car for a
few hours?". The gentleman gave her a strange look and said, "I don't even
know who you are. Why would you ask me if you could borrow my car?" Mrs.
Jones replied, "Well, sir you loan me your daughter every Wed after noon.
You see I am her Girl Scout Leader."
It's tragic, but often true that people regaurd their personal
possessions more highly than their children. When was the last time you
talked to your childs teacher, or scout leader?
