Hi all, Greetings to everyone and fellow Girl Scout Leaders. I wanted to
share news regarding another successful year as a girl scout leader from
Ithaca, New York.
This weekend, we have a service unit camp-out and on the agenda is a fly-up
for Juniors to Cadettes and Cadettes to Seniors. My daughter decided to
stay on one more year as a Junior (because she is interested in our plans
for next year) so therefore, we will only have two girls bridging rather
We will be camping from Friday pm through Sunday noon. Arriving at camp
site at 6:30 pm on Friday, we are responsible for starting Friday nite's
camp fire and leading in two songs. We will have a wide game Saturday
afternoon to present. Then we need to present two skits at the Saturday
nite campfire, and stay for the extinquishing of the fire.
We will be camping with another junior troop in the adirondack cabins
facing Cayuga Lake, one of the fingerlakes. I am really excited about
this, because Cayuga Lake is BEAUTIFUL in the evening...all the lights
around the lake from cabins, etc.
Tonight we have been asked to participate in a bridging ceremony -- Brownie
fly up to Juniors -- another service unit activity. With our busy
schedule of activities both scouting and academics..... participating in a
service unit bridging/fly up makes that phase so enjoyable.
To all GS Leaders....I would like to hear about your successes and what
your girls enjoyed most. My girls will be 6th graders next year, and we
plan to earn the Video Production badge as well as another Sign patch (we
earned the Sign of the Rainbow this year). I also can't wait to see the
new Junior GS handbooks.
We have been working very hard all year round to earn the Junior Aide Patch
and the Sign of the Rainbow. In order to earn the S/Rainbow, we had to
earn patches in each world as well as the Junior Aide patch. They did
Next year, we will work on the next sign (maybe two)... and definitely the
Careers patch and VIDEO PRODUCTION patch. My girls are EXCITED> I was
trying to figure out what can I do to make sure most of my 6th graders(to
be) will return to scouting. At our last meeting, I make the suggestion
for this patch and you should have seen the enthusiasm....!!!
So please, girl scout leaders, all levels, I am interested in hearing
about your troops....
