People of the Southeastern parts of Mexico (Where I have family) use hammocks t
o sleep every day. When I tried one for the first time I had the same doubts th
at you are having now, but I can assure you that you wake up feeling very reste
d and not stiff at all. About the bugs you should use a mosquito net around you
specially in hot climates.
As a matter of fact, in Mexico we have individual and couples hammocks.
