I have been in a running battle in my troop about the
"PROPER" Knife a scout should have. One school of thought says, "Have
the boys all buy LOCK BLADE type knifes, the blade won't fold up on
them and they are study.
The other school of thought says, " Have them but a good
utility Knife with different blades and accesories on it like a Swiss
Myself, I use both and carry both types with me. I do a lot of
whittlin' around the campfire and use my small blades on the Victorinox
Knifes that I own. The problem I see with the Lock Blade Knifes is some
of these Lock are extremely tight and take some force to unlock. We have
some boys that I don't think could open and close one of these with out
What do you folks out there on the net reccommend to your scouts?
NOTE: Our Council does NOT allow Sheath Knifes for anyone even Scouter.
