I strongly doubt that most of the readership was actually offended by
your message. I suspect that the only real danger of such messages is
that they could become common place.
However, given that you have to be subscribed to the list in order to
send messages to the list, I think that we can tolerate the occasional
off-topic message -- and yours wasn't even *that* far off topic.
Among other things, we should consider that the normal conversation
here can drift off topic by a fair degree at times.
Now, if someone subscribed, sent an off-topic message, and then
unsubscribed, I'd say that they deserve any flames that they get.
Hopefully none of the regulars will suddenly become inspired to send
out MAKE.MONEY.FAST messages :-)
p. s. I'll take a turn off topic now: Why does the list server use
the bitnet form of the list address in the Reply-To: field that
