I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm one proud dad tonight.
Our family just returned from the Miwok Lodge annual Banquet tonight... and
I wanted to share a few things with the list.
My son Josh, a Life Scout and JASM in his Troop, as well as a Vigil member
in the Lodge, was running for Lodge Chief of the Lodge and the election
results were to be announced at the Banquet tonight.
Well, before the results were announced (at the end of dinner) they
presented several other recognitions and awards. One of which was the
Founder's Award for the Lodge. After the Supreme Chief of the Fire explained
to everyone present what the Founder's Award was and that one youth and one
adult were awarded it, he called my son's name.
As Josh went up to receive the award he was VERY surprised as he's the kind
of kid that just gets in there and does things without thinking about what
you might get for it (sometimes he jumps in too far <g>).
Anyway, as he was returning to his seat, the Council Exec then started
talking about the Silver Fox Award and how only one person in the Lodge each
year receives it... etc...
Well, turned out that it _also_ was presented to Josh...
If that wasn't enough to make his mom and me burst... When the election
results were announced, he was the new Lodge Chief for the next year as
Sooo, we've all had a big night. His girl friend was there to see it all
too, so he was REAL happy.
The other exciting thing that happened was for me... Josh was conducting the
Vigil tappout (yes, we still tap, but "gently") in full costume (Double
trailer bonnet and all), and had the fun of tapping out his own dad... So,
it looks like I'll be going through my Vigil ceremony the 2nd weekend in
June, just one year after Josh got his...
Well, thanks for listening to me babble, just wanted to tell someone about
Josh (and me) and all the excitement before I went to sleep tonight... All
Josh has left to do on his EAgle is 1/2 of his project and 2 MBs, so maybe
this will be a record year for him yet <g>.
