Once again, everyone... Please rememebr that not everyone on this list is in
the BSA or the GSUSA - and that many of us work under different sets of
rules. Please don't be quite so absolute in your pronouncements or
prohibitions, simply because that't the way life is in the BSA.
I think that you will find that the only other Scouting nations that have as
strict a prohibition of alcohol on camp as the BSA are those where Islam is
the predominant religion...
Plese understand that NOBODY who is a Scouter will advocate that anyone
should become legless on camp (or probably anywhere else, for that matter),
and that Scouters demonstrating a strong tendency toward enjoying the auld
grape too often will be politely asked to refrain from doing so at any time
they are in a Scout Leadership role. If they don't understand and comply,
they are generally edged out the door, though possibly not quite so
spectacularly as I have seen in the time I have lived in the USA.
