Sorry to say, but I believe John Sweet is Scouting in greener fields, now,
but he has left us a great legacy.
Personally, the Bolton Bolt Hurler is a favourite of mine. (Everyone has to
rush out and get a copy to find out why!) I don't know of a Scouts Canada
Scout Shop that won'y happily take your plastic money over the phone and drop
a copy in the post for you. For that Matter, The Scout Shops in teh UK won't
turn you down either.
Another book you might like to get is one by a friend of mine, Eddie
Greenhalgh - longtime Camp Warden at Gilwell (his son, Alan, was the GSL of
the Scout Group I was a SL of in The Netherlands). He put together an
excellen book on Scout Camp Cooking that you would certainly enjoy.
(Available from the Scout Shops in the UK (who also take plastic over the
phone) or from the Scout Association's _Scouting Magazine_.)
Hope this helps you all get interested in getting copies of both for your
I first met John Sweet some years ago, and he was a Grand Old Gentleman of
Scouting, somewhat along the lines of Dr. Goodman and William Hillcourt.
