As far as I am concerned, there shouldn't be any drinking on a function with
the boys. This is pretty simple because it doesn't have a place in the
program. As for alcohol in a Scout facility, I also feel this has no place.
Adults only or not, I just don't agree with having alcohol in a Scout camp,
building, ship, vehicle or elsewhere. A personal rule I will also follow at
all times is that I will not partake at any time that I am wearing a field
uniform. The jacket and tie uniform is a possibility, but generally I don't
wear that one too often.
I admit that as a Scout, I had some different feelings on this, but I now see
that this could have been better done outside the program. My feelings stem
not from the fact that I think drinking is wrong, but that there is no place
for it in the program we have. Sometimes I think the kids would all be better
off learning thqat they can't even zip up a sleeping bag right after drinking
long before getting a driver's license, but the laws and the program make the
