District Fires Volunteers

I just ran across the attached post on the FIDO Scouter Net, it which it is
reported that the district professional Scouters fired the entire district
group of volunteers in one big wipe out. My question, how is this possible
and how could a district survive after something like this, or for that
matter perhaps the total council that the district is in. I would think that
it would be very hard to get anyone else to take on the jobs in the district
after it became clear that one of the conditions was to be "yes" men.

What a night! I just learned that ALL our District volunteers have
been fired! That would be about 30 people. People who I thought we're
incredible contributors to scouting, are all gone because they fought
the ideas of the paid execs of our District. Never mind that the paid
people have only been on-board for a year or two. Never mind that these
volunteers have about 20 years average experience each. One of the
leaders just received his Silver Beaver!
Now, Council is busy making phone calls to replace these people. So
for now, activities, training, advancements and all the other things
these volunteers took care of are dead! I'm shocked and concerned about
the future of the scouts within our District.
I just wanted to blow off some steam, but has anyone else ever
experienced so drastic a reorganization?
