Jim, you old BEAR! You really know how to ask a question that steams
everyone up. My two cents: Present the AOL at the Troop meeting
if need be (even better a troop COH if timely). Once the boys are
in the troop they are not likely to return to the Pack for the AOL
since they are BOY SCOUTS now and all their friends are in the troop
now. I appreciate all that Kathie and Mike and others said, but let's
not lose sight of why we make the recognition - we do it not for our
own reasons or our great ceremony (and I wrote a great one!), but for the
boys and to acknowledge their accomplishment and this is the most
crutial part -----> so that they want to continue in BOY SCOUTS!
If you are fighting the sports thing, they may already be high risk - -
that is you might lose them anyway. If they come to the BS troop, a
presentation in front of the troop will build them up in front of their
new peers and maybe help keep thm in. As you know Jim, I believe
in doing whatever it takes to keep them coming back.
