The Tau Beta Pi (engineering honor society) chapter at U. of Maryland
generally runs something similar, except that they concentrate on the
technical badges (electronics, computers, etc). I believe the merit
badge day there was started in the early 80s when our former
scoutmaster was advisor for the chapter. Don't know any more info at
this point; best to just get in touch with someone at U of Md.

They can't be as bad as Maryland, My Maryland, which is largely a call
for Maryland to secede from the Union and leave Lincoln without a
capital to go to.
