All kidding aside, I'm going to be pretty busy at that
time, but if you're going to be in Southern Pennsylvania and are
interested in visiting countryside type locations, among the
things you should plan on doing are visiting Lancaster County
(home of the Pennsylvania "Dutch" (Amish)), visiting Ephrata
(particularly the cloisters) and taking in the Pennsylvania Dutch
state fair near Reading (I' ll think of the name of the town in a
few minutes). I hope our friend Dave from Keystone Area Council
in Harrisburg will get you the address of the Pennsylvania
Tourist Bureau, as well as that of Lancaster and Berks Counties.
Come to think of it, you probably should also take in the
Brandywine River Valley in Delaware County. (Home of the Hyaths
(famous American painters).)

Just a note... the painters, are the Wyeths, not the Hyaths. They have
beautiful gardens at their "home" in Brandywine.
Also Rachel, if you want to travel some (6-8 hours by car) you might want
to hike part of the Erie Canal Trail. It is a bike-hiking path along the
Erie canal the trail runs from Onodoga, NY to Rochester NY, but is easily
accessible, and can be hiked in small sections.
