I am the director of a new youth recreation program in Fennville, Michigan.
We work with middle school age youth (grades 6-8). Since we are just
getting started, I'm in the process of looking for program ideas that have
worked in other youth rec. programs. So here's a list of questions. Any
responses would be greatly appreciated.
1. We would like to begin offering "expeditions" (field trips) that the
kids could go on. What are some good places to go? (Roller Skatting,
movies, sleding, swimming, etc.)
2. Are there periodicals that I could subscribe to that tell about
inovative programs in other organizations. Or are there good program
idea books out there? Professional Associations to join? How to get
"hooked-in" to the information loop for youth recreation and youth
3. How do you raise money for program expenses? What are some fund raising
tactics that have worked elsewhere? I'm talking about bigger ideas than
bakesales, and car washes.
