Hi Kathie !
Your envelope arrived last night. Thanks for the information.
It points out another difference between our 2 organizations.
BSA seems to have a more organized and standardized system of keeping
Is there also a standard form used by individual sections to report
member adds and drops on a month by month basis ? If there is, does
this also go to the person labelled "Registrar of Training Records"
on page number 5 of the material you sent ? If not, can you describe
that part of the reporting structure ?
I have got a good collection of membership statistics for the Province
of Ontario now, related to Canadian Census data. I've also got a world
wide summary of membership numbers too. (I'll get this one out first
because it is minimal work.) The Ontario stuff needs some consolidation,
before I send it out, but it presents some interesting history on the
penetration of the Scout program in Ontario by age groups within the
population. The bottom line is that the Scout program in Ontario
has been declining since a peak in 1979. I wonder if BSA is experiencing
a similar pattern ? (I haven't got any information yet as to how the
various age groups are increasing or decreasing over time.
This will be part of the puzzle too.)
That's it for now !
Yours in Scouting
