Wait a minute !!! I may have lost something in the original Post!
Is the issue here (1) Training being placed under the Council
Training Committee -- or (2) Training opportunities are now
limited to only "centralized - multi district" trainings.
First -- I would have to agree that Training should be placed under
the Council Training Committee. That is where it belongs ... Not
under the Commissioner Staff (implyed by original message)
However, you can have a strong Council Training Committee but still
have training on a relative small group district events that report
to the Council Training Committee.
If the problem is (2) moving all training to centralized sites
instead of in the districts, I can not respond due to the lack of
knowledge of your council but let me share this piece of advice.
We have different "district" training teams in the Cub Basic Training
here. Each District is to use the set training material and the
Council Training Committee (District Cub Training Chairman sit on
this committee along with others) is the quality control of the
training. We have over 12 Cub training sessions just in the largest
3 districts for our council. ---- BUT
In an effort to make stronger use of our Boy Scout Trainers, our
three largest districts (mostly centered around and in Wichita) have
agreed to share responsibility for the Boy Scout SMFun. Course.
This brings the key players from each of the three "metro" districts
together twice a year. Each District then "hosts" the SM Fun course
every 18 months and provides either the ASM or th SPL the other two
times when they are not the host (providing the SM).
From what you have said, I feel that you are looking at two extremes.
I feel that there is middle ground here that needs to be viewed.
