In August of 1990 both my Pack and Troop (I was both CM and SM for a short
amount of time) and another Troop were asked to do a 30 minute program
each for our local cable access channel. There was a council representative
(a volunteer) at the tapeings but except for a SERIOUS disagreement on a
female ASM being listed on the show as a ASM, he said little. I got the
impression that he was there only to make sure that our uniforms were correct.
I have no idea if there was National approval of the concept, there was no
prior approval of what we actually did on the show. The boys participating
had a lot of fun and the programs were shown in this area for about 18 months.
We still have them on video tape in our Pack library.
If we can do this others should be able to. I still get occasional recognition
from youth and adults that I meet, both in and out of Scouting.
