Peter... you know I wouldn't say anything about northerners... Heck I've
even thought about going up to Yellowknife for a visit to see _real_
northerners. (not just those in the fake (ala Northern Exposure) north).
Besides, back in the dark ages when I was a CM, we also used to turn the
Bobcats upside down and pin their badge on right side up, then flip the
Bobcats back around (a long standing CA tradition for Bobcats).
Yes, we too stopped the practice, back about the time of the new (then)
2-year Webelos program was being introduced as I remember. WE had always had
the boys parent(s) be the one to turn the boys over, avoiding any liability
problems when the occasional boy got "dropped" on his head.
If dad dropped him, it wasn't our fault.
Everyone really enjoyed it and the new boys (especially the Tigers who we
had integrated into the Pack long before it was fashionable to do it)
always looked forward to it. Many boys and parents were disappointed when we
had to stop the practice.
