Membership Statistics from various Scout Organizations.

Earlier discussion on Tiger Cup membership has got me going on
membership statistics in general. I'm attempting to get information
on the Canadian organization for the last few years. I have a local
source who may be able to help, but if anyone else has information
available, I'd be interested in seeing it on this conference.
I will also post a similar request on FidoNet.
Since the Canadian organization has just begun to go machine readable
with detailed membership information, I fear the best I will get here
is total numbers by sections over the last few years. (Beavers, Cubs,
Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Adult Leaders.) I do know that our numbers
have supposed to be declining until about 1992, then started increasing
again, but I haven't seen any data to back that up .
Would anyone from the other National organizations on this list care to
contribute similar data ?
Has anyone gotten into the issues of privacy and the uses which the
National organization might use this data for ? Just this year,
Canada came out with a PC based registration program, called
Scout Works, which collected very detailed information on each
member, including sex, religion, ethnic origin, in addition to
age, address, telephone number. There have been no guidelines issued
publicly which state how this data will be treated, or what
precautions will be taken to retain confidentiality of the lists ?
Is anyone aware of any such policy ?
I'm looking forward to your comments on these topics !
