Regarding the Tiger Cubs acting as a den with weekly meetings.
I have some concerns about this.
1. If we give the Tigers Weekly meetings we are setting them up
with more structure in the program than is called for.
2. By adding the additional sturcture you are needing a more rigid
leadership (such as DL) for them. This is against the "team"
approach of the program.
3. We have enough trouble keeping kids in the program. If we make
the Tigers into a den of their own... then we are pushing the full
program onto them too soon. We will loose more of them due to
"burnout" before we can transitionalize them into Troops.
4. Take a good look at the retention levels. You will see that
there are reasons for doing the tigers as an "Introduction" program
of Scouting ... not the full dose at once.
5. etc. etc. etc.
These are my own feelings and experiences.. I am speaking for no
